The big question that everyone deserves to know. So, who are we, and what is our goal? To introduce ourselves, my name is Daniella Malka, and my best friend Rebecca Singer and I are the co-founders of the upcoming organization/community Cure with Courage, where we plan on fundraising for different types of cancer: colon cancer, prostate cancer, breast cancer, leukemia, skin cancer, lung cancer, etc. All donations will go through the Canadian Cancer Society. Our plan as two teenage girls with big dreams is not to let any cancer go unnoticed and to make sure that the generations above us don’t have to go through the pain of losing loved ones or, unfortunately, even losing their own lives to the disease. For some context, my mother had passed away at the age of thirty-nine from melanoma, as well as had to suffer from breast cancer. One of the women who is the biggest role model to us as humans is our mother, and that gift was taken away from me when I was just three years old. The worst part is that this is just my mother, who is a part of the approximately 9.7 million people who pass away from all types of cancer each year. Rebecca and I need you to support today in any way that you can so that 9.7 million won’t stay that number for long. Another question can be, why purple? Purple represents the colour of all types of cancer, alongside the colours of a rainbow. Remember, even your five dollars can go a long way, and so can your support and smiles for people battling cancer and cancer survivors. Be a part of the change for the future of cures, and join us hand in hand. We all deserve to live a life that is cancer-free. We hope to plan events soon and see you all there!
